Principal's Message
L. D. Arts College begins its academic year 2023–24 with renewed energy. Having successfully completed two years in the new campus we move on with pride and characteristic enthusiasm. Along with the verdant surroundings, state of the art infrastructure and optimum facilities, it has been the contribution of the faculty and students that has made it a memorable year. One of the highlights of the academic year that went by has been the elevation of our Principal Dr. Mahipatsinh Chavda to the post of the Honourable Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Krishnakumarsinhji Bhavnagar University. It has been a well deserved appointment and we at L. D. Arts College wish him every success in carrying out his responsibilities.
Once again, in the last academic year, L. D. Arts lived up to the various benchmarks it has continuously been setting in its 82 year old journey. Faculty, Administrative Staff as well as Students not only adapted well to the changed surroundings but made optimum use of all the extra facilities provided. This year marks the successful completion of the second graduation batch from the new campus.
The past year has been one that has given us a tremendous sense of satisfaction. As the mantle of responsibility falls on me, I realize the immense seriousness of being at the helm of a NAAC accredited 'A' Grade college. There is little doubt in my mind that the zeal to take the college to even greater heights will in no way diminish.
Like last year, this academic year too is expected to be suffused with vibrance and vigorous pursuit of academic as well as extracurricular activities. Outstanding performance by students has been the tradition of our college. In the year that went by, students have excelled in competitions at the National Level as well as Inter- University Level. It was a matter of immense pride for the college that our NSS Coordinator Dr. N.P. Verma won the prestigious ‘Indira Gandhi National Award’. The award was presented at the Rashtrapati Bhavan by the Hon'ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind and was a first for Gujarat.
L.D. Arts College has always been known for its high teaching standards. It remains true to its motto of all round development of students through academics and extracurricular activities. Character building and service to society top our priority list. This year too, the College will be conducting a number of seminars, workshops and various commemorative events like Geeta Jayanti and the Mahadev Desai Trophy. The NSS and NCC wings, the CWDC and the various Departments are expected to host a wide spectrum of academic and cultural activities that will draw a diverse pool of talent. Our students have been excelling at the Youth Festival and various inter-college and zonal events. Every year, the college organizes several blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, and medical camps. In the sports front, the students excelled and won a number of trophies last year. On the academic front the College has lived up to its reputation. The UG level results were 87% and the PG level results were 90%. Several reputed organizations visited the campus for interviews and offered placement to the students. In the month of January the campus was vibrant with the celebration of various days like Environment Day, Traditional Day, Cleanliness Day, Executive Day and Role Model Day. The enthusiasm of the faculty, students and alumni has contributed in making it another successful year for our College.
As I take the charge of Principal of this prestigious institute, I am confident that teamwork and unstinting effort will maintain our levels of excellence. I welcome new ideas that will help us do even better. Once again, as our next batch graduates with dreams and aspirations, I congratulate them and wish them the very best. I am confident that 2023 - 2024 will once again see L. D. Arts not only living up to its reputation but also setting new benchmarks.
